Sacrificing Career over Managing Home: Is It a Right Decision?

In the fast pace world, every one,be it a male or female, is running in the rat race to earn his/her livelihood and to lead a lavish lifestyle. Long before, the scenario was that husband used to work and female look after her family. But, with the changing times women have also become ambitious and do not want to put their careers at back stage even after getting married.

Of late, most of the women prefer taking short sabbatical of 1-2 months at the time of marriage and want to rejoin their offices as soon as possible. But, there are some prestigious women personalities who value family more than career. They are happy after giving up their careers and feel proud to be called as homemakers. Let’s take a closer look at them.

Anjali Tendulkar- Born on 10 Novembor 1967, a paedictrician by profession, Anjali Tendulkar has tied her nuptial knot with Sachin Tendulkar in 1995. She gave up her promising career to take care of her family. And even after so many years, she has no regrets on her decision of turning into full-fledged homemaker.

Madhuri Dixit- Worldwide recognized as Dhak Dhak girl, she ruled the Bollywood for more than a 1 decade. In the year 1999, she broke many hearts by settling down with renowned cardiovascular surgeon Shriram Madhav Nene. She took break from Hindi movies and after taking a significant sabbatical of 6 years, she rejoined the film industry.

No one can question their decision of giving up promising career or rejoining the mainstream after taking a long break. Reason being, they are known faces. But, why such kinds of question always arise when a common woman takes the same decision? Why is that so it always remains a hush-hush issue among family and friends when a woman takes the decision putting of her career on a backburner?

It would not wrong to say that even for a woman taking this decision is not easy. She takes such kind of decision after weighing pros and cons and discussing it with her family. Moreover, every individual faces different kind of situation. Some women feel happy to rejoin their offices after marriage, whereas some are compelled to join office for meeting their both ends meal. The decision taken by her relies upon the fact that which choice is the best for her family, not that which is right or wrong at that point of time. So, the only point to convey is that respect her decision if she sacrifices her career for the sake of her family because priorities change after marriage.

Changing Outlook of Delhi

“There is nothing permanent except change” is one of the sayings of Heraclitus. Changes are inevitable and important also. Although, changes have occurred in all the places, Delhi is one place where changes have altogether changed the outlook of it. Now, it seems like a completely new place what it looked like a few decades back. Over the past few years, everything ranging from culture, clothing, youth's choices, etc. has changed dramatically in the metropolitan area. Here’s a list of some changes that have taken place recently.

1.      Leggings replaced traditional salwar suits- For girls, wearing salwar suit with dupatta is a matter of passé. With the introduction of sleek and comfortable leggings, now kurti with legging is a preferred choice of not only girls but married ladies as well over traditional salwar suits. Reason being, they are comfortable, give fashionista look and most importantly, one legging can be worn with many kurtis. Owing to the fact, the popularity of a combination of kurti with legging continues to thrive in Delhi female section.

2.      Pithu or Laptop bags replaced Suitcase- A few years back, office going people carry suitcase along with them for keeping their important documents. Now, the scenario has undergone a sea change. Of late, the trend of carrying pithu bags or laptop bags is catching pace.

3.      Scooters and Maruti 800 phase out- That day is not so far when vehicles like scooters and Maruti 800 will be hard to see in metropolitan cities. With the emergence of power bikes and stylish car models, these vehicles are virtually dead now.

4.      Complete disappearance of Landlines Phones- A few decades back, rotary phones were replaced by landline phones. And with the presence of mobile phones, the landline phones are completely ruled out.

Communicating with friends through sms rather through mails, eating out in restaurants on weekly basis, doing shopping online, - the list is endless. It would not wrong to say that these are some kind of those changes which are primarily seen in Delhi and other metros. But slowly and steadily, these changes are taking place in small and rural areas as well. Please tell, if there are some other changes which you have observed in your nearby areas. Your suggestions are welcomed.
